Jeff Van Drew
Jeff Van Drew voted with Donald Trump only 27% of the time (1).
Without accepting to publicly debate, the lifelong Democrat won his 2020 Republican Primary election for New Jersey’s Second Congressional District. Jeff Van Drew’s first ever Republican primary was cleared of nominees, namely David Richter and Brain Fitzherbert. He was able to achieve this by negotiating with the NJGOP establishment. David Richter obeyed the NJGOP establishment and challenged the adjacent Andy Kim in New Jersey's Third Congressional District. Brian Fitzherbert dropped out. This all happened while Rosemary Becchi (in North New Jersey) obeyed the NJGOP establishment and challenged Mikie Sherrill in New Jersey's Eleventh Congressional District, instead of primarying Tom Kean Jr. in New Jersey's Seventh Congressional District. In chess, pawns almost always move first.
As a Republican Congressman, Jeff Van Drew earned his first strike when he co-sponsored the TRACE Act, H.R. 6666, as the sole Republican. This bill would have granted $100 billion toward contact tracing amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Top NJGOP campaign strategist, Ron Filan, replied saying that the Jeff Van Drew co-sponsorship "was a clerical error" and two weeks later the Congressman withdrew his co-sponsorship (2).
A month after, Jeff Van Drew voted against the entire Republican Party and voted with the entire Democrat Party on H.R. 1425 to expand the Affordable Care Act (3).
During the most crucial months of the 2020 election, the flip flop Congressman voted against President Donald Trump and with the entire Democrat Party on H.R. 8015 to fund the USPS with $25 billion (4).
In 2021, Jeff Van Drew “was 1 of 13 House Republicans to vote in favor of the $1.2 trillion federal Infrastructure” bill promoted by President Joe Biden (5). He then went on to vote Yes to “amnesty for approximately 1.5 million illegal alien farm workers.” (6).
Thankfully, Jeff Van Drew showed some signs of clarity when he co-sponsored Kentucky Congressman Thomas Massie Jr’s bill HR 3860, which prevents members of the military from being forced to receive the COVID-19 vaccine (7).
I have the last recording that I know of regarding the website, “realvandrew.com” and I created a livestream describing this specific 2020 NJ Republican primary election, as it happened.
